Saturday is baking day in our house. I usually try to bake treats of our Siberian Husky, Cannoli; as befitting her Italian namesake confection she loves treats. She particularly likes biscuits.
I try different ingredients to give her a variety, and I try to make healthier treats than that you can get at the pet store. This week I made some blueberry yogurt treats. This treat is not crumbly like the other treats I’ve made, they’re a bit on the chewy side and she loves them. They do however have to be refrigerated and should keep for about 2 weeks, I’m sure they’ll be gone sooner.
Ingredients:
12 oz. frozen blueberries – thawed
12 oz. plain yogurt
2 cups rolled oats
2 cups organic flour
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. I use my hands and break up some of the blueberries. Be sure it’s well mixed, dough should be loose resembling drop cookie dough.
Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of batter on to a parchment covered baking sheet. You can adjust the size of the treat by adjusting the amount of dough you drop on the sheet. I made 30 treats each about 1 1/2″ in diameter. I break them up when I give them to her.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Cool and store in the fridge in airtight containers.
