I love making doggie biscuits for our dog Cannoli. She’s a very spoiled Siberian Husky. I’m always trying out new recipes.
This time I decided to combine her 2 favorite treats, peanut butter and carrots. I mixed it up with organic flour and rolled oats and came up with a new treat which she just loves.
The recipe yielded 12 bone shaped treats and a bowl full of the smaller 1″ rounds I’ll use as training treats.
Here’s my new recipe it’s really easy to make using just 4 ingredients. I used organic and natural ingredients, but you can use non-organic.
Ingredients:
1 cup organic flour
1 cup organic rolled oats
1 cup natural peanut butter
1 4oz. jar of strained carrots baby food
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Mix until it forms a ball of dough. If it’s too dry and crumbly add water 1 tbls. at a time until you can form a ball.
Roll out dough on a lightly flour surface. Roll to 1/2′ thick.
Cut into desired shape using a cookie cutter or use a pizza cutter to make squares.
Place biscuits on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. Flip biscuits over and continue to bake

Last week I whipped up a batch of homemade PB & Veggie Dog Biscuits for my pooch Cannoli and her friends in Obedience Class. Since class fell on Easter Sunday it was a good time to share some treats so I packed the biscuits in Easter packaging.
This time I added Brewer’s Yeast and Flax Seed Meal to the biscuits, both are said to promote healthy skin and shiny coats. I used Peanut Butter mostly for taste, Cannoli loves her Peanut Butter, but it’s also a good source of protein, heart healthy fats, and some vitamins. Flax seed is also a good source for fatty acids which are good for skin, heart, and immune systems. Brewer’s Yeast is also said to be a natural flea repellent and helps improve coats, relieve stress, and helps the digestion.
Over all these biscuits are healthy treats for your fur ball, they’re easy to make, and much less expensive than commercial dog biscuits.
I used Wilton cookie cutters, you get a set of three: bone, dog, and paw. You can order them from Amazon. But if you don’t have these cookie cutters you can use whatever you have on hand or even roll them into balls and flatten with the bottom of a glass.
I made bones and paws, the recipe made 3 dozen biscuits, perfect for sharing!
I prefer to use organic or natural ingredients specially for the peanut butter. You want to avoid lots of sodium they put in regular peanut butter.
Store biscuits in tightly sealed containers for up to a week. To store longer freeze them in ziplock bags.
Saturday is baking day in our house. I usually try to bake treats of our Siberian Husky, Cannoli; as befitting her Italian namesake confection she loves treats. She particularly likes biscuits.
I try different ingredients to give her a variety, and I try to make healthier treats than that you can get at the pet store. This week I made some blueberry yogurt treats. This treat is not crumbly like the other treats I’ve made, they’re a bit on the chewy side and she loves them. They do however have to be refrigerated and should keep for about 2 weeks, I’m sure they’ll be gone sooner.
Ingredients:
12 oz. frozen blueberries – thawed
12 oz. plain yogurt
2 cups rolled oats
2 cups organic flour
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. I use my hands and break up some of the blueberries. Be sure it’s well mixed, dough should be loose resembling drop cookie dough.
Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of batter on to a parchment covered baking sheet. You can adjust the size of the treat by adjusting the amount of dough you drop on the sheet. I made 30 treats each about 1 1/2″ in diameter. I break them up when I give them to her.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Cool and store in the fridge in airtight containers.

We’re always looking for new treats for Cannoli, our Siberian Husky. She loves treats and most of the time the only way she’ll obey commands is when she knows there’s a treat in store for her.
We go thru plenty of treats! Store bought treats can not only get pricey some of them aren’t very healthy for your pet. We usually make our own doggie treats, it’s not only economical it’s healthier for her too.
Last week my 13 year old grandson, Dion, made these crunchy chicken & carrot biscuits for her. It was so easy to make, it uses only four ingredients, and he really enjoyed cutting out the bone shaped biscuits. Here’s Dion’s recipe!

1 1/2 cup organic flour
1/2 cup organic rolled oats
1 jar organic strained carrot baby food
1 jar chicken baby food
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients in large bowl and knead until you have a firm dough ball. You may have to add flour a little bit at a time until you reach the right consistency.
2. Roll dough out on a floured surface to 1/2″ thick.
3. Cut dough into any shape with a cookie cutter or into squares using a pizza cutter.

I always buy those green dog biscuits that are supposed to freshen the dog’s breath and be good for their teeth; my Siberian Husky won’t eat them. She turns their noses away when offered one of those expensive biscuits. She’s not a picky eater, but there was something about those treats that she just doesn’t like.
I started making these breath freshener treats. They are so easy to make, the pup loves them, and they’re healthy too! An added bonus is that they’re very inexpensive, specially if you have a herb garden and use your homegrown parsley.
Ingredients:
2 cups fresh parsley – finely chopped
2 bottles (4 oz. each) Strained Green Bean baby food
2 cups organic flour
1 cup flax seed meal
water if needed
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together. I use my hands to mix the dough until it holds together as a ball. Add 1 tbls. of water at a time if dough is too crumbly until it is stiff enough to form a ball.
Roll dough out on lightly floured surface to 1/2″ thickness.
Cut into desired shapes using a cookie cutter, pizza wheel (for squares), or inverted glass (for circles).
Place on parchment covered baking sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Cool and store in airtight container.
