One of the best summer night activities is star gazing.  The warm weather makes the activity much more comfortable, and the night skies put on a spectacular show in the the summer.

June 30 is Meteor Watching Day, the Delta Aquarids Meteor Shower is between July 12 to August 23 peaking on July 28 -29, and the popular Perseids Meteor Shower from July 17 to August 24 peaking on August 12 when star gazers can see as many as 60 meteors in an hour.

These nightly shows will go one for 2 months giving you ample opportunity to witness them and a great way to teach the kids a bit of astronomy.  You can have an intimate star gazing party for 2 with your significant other, have a family star gazing evening with the kids, host a fun filled event with friends and family, or all the above!  There’s certainly enough time to do it all.

The most important ingredients to any star gazing event are telescopes or binoculars, flashlights, lanterns, comfy cushions for sitting or laying on, yummy snacks, and great company.  Here are some ideas to help you plan your star gazing party so grab your telescopes and invite your friends and family for a fun night under the stars!
