Banana Que – Fried Banana Skewers
Banana Que is a popular Philippine street food, snack (Merienda) and dessert (panghimagas). It is usually skewered on a bamboo stick, and is sold on the streets. The skewer makes it easier to serve and eat.
Banana Que, sometimes called Barbekyung Saging (Barbequed Banana) is made from Saging Saba (Cardaba banana, a short stubby triploid hybrid cultivar banana variety native to Southeast Asia). The banana is deep fried and coated in caramelized brown sugar. Many Filipinos love this for their merienda.
It is very easy to prepare and to cook. You can pair it with lemon grass ice tea or any hot and cold drinks you want.

Ingredients:
16 pcs. Ripe Saging Saba or regular Cavendish bananas found in Supermarkets
2-5 cup brown sugar
2-5 cups vegetable cooking oil
Materials Needed:
Fry Skimmer Strainer or Colander
8 bamboo skewers
Direction:
Heat cooking oil in a large wok or pan.
Then drop in the bananas and fry for about 2-5 minutes or until slightly brown.
Sprinkle the brown sugar in the oil and lower the heat to medium-low, don’t stir it until the sugar starts to caramelize.
When the sugar starts to caramelize gently stir. This will coat the bananas with caramelized sugar.
Continue frying, stirring several times so bananas are fully coated with caramelized sugar.
Then turn the heat off to avoid overcooking.
Drain in a colander, fry skimmer strainer, or in a deep bowl with paper towel to remove excess oil.
