Belle Epoch Hat – FREE Crochet Pattern

Belle Epoch

I’ve been in an Art Deco style mood lately.  I made an Art Deco style pair of legwarmers and matching hat for my older daughter and can’t seem to stop!  I made this Belle Epoch Hat for my other daughter, I didn’t want to make the exact same design, so I made this new pattern for her. I liked it so much that I made one for my good friend Katie too!

I used Lion’s brand yarn in Peacock teal, that’s her favorite color and accented it with this Wagon Wheel Flower design by b. hooked crochet.  I love this flower!  To make it extra vintage I sewed on this sparkly button I found in Walmart to the flower center.  My daughter loves it!

This hat uses Super Bulky #6 yarn so it doesn’t take long to make, I think I crocheted it in less than an hour.  To make the flower I used 2 types of white yarn, the Red Hear #4 in white and Caron’s Simply Soft Party in Snow Sparkle, it has just a bit of shine to it!  I used both strands of yarn held together to crochet the flower.

This is a great weekend project and you’ll look like you just walked off the pages of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel The Great Gatsby!

is there any video with a tutorial of this hat? For some reason after the clustering rows I end up with 51 stitches instead of 36. I bet I am doing something wrong….

I’m sorry I never had time to make a tutorial. I did make several of them a couple of months ago following the pattern, I ended up with the correct number of stitches, Are you counting the ch 2 in the beginning of each round as your first stitch? If you don’t you’ll end up with extra stitches. Let me know which round is giving you problems and I’ll try to help out.
